The design catches eyes but conduces acoustics, too. The sound of VELA shows it´s family background to successful series 400.
But the advantages are distinct. The angling of the cabinet in combination with the new wave-guide of the JET tweeter improves the definition of stereo and multi-channel audio in modern furnishing. But there are more than the obvious changes.
A unique tweeter yields superb sound
The VELA FS 407 uses ELAC's renowned JET 5 folded ribbon tweeter, which is hand-assembled in Germany to ensure the best possible quality.
This unique design works like the bellows in an accordion, squeezing air quickly and precisely to produce sound. Highs are incredibly smooth and detailed, while offering a realistic three-dimensional feeling of sound in space.
This speaker brings the bass, too
The FS 407 delivers ultra-smooth midrange and deep, rhythmic bass, thanks to its 2-1/2-way, three-driver design. It uses one of its 6" aluminum and paper "sandwich" woofers for bass frequencies, and the other for midbass/midrange.
Each driver features a die-cast basket and a unique, crystal-shaped cone design for punchy, musical bass that can fill even large rooms.

The FS 407 uses a sturdy, reinforced enclosure to reduce vibration and eliminate unwanted resonance. Its beautiful, grille-less design features a wood veneer exterior and a high-gloss lacquer finish.
You'll want a powerhouse amp to drive them
The FS 407s have a nominal impedance of 4 ohms. I recommend using high-performance amplification to get the best sound of out your pair.
In particular, I recommend matching them with ELAC's Alchemy Series DPA-2 amplifier. This high-end, space-saving amp offers plenty of power for the FS 407s to reach their full potential.
For the ultimate ELAC system, pair this amp with the Alchemy Series DDP-2
Stereo preamplifier/DAC/streamer. This is the equipment combination I auditioned the BS 403s on, and man, what a treat it was to hear.
